    ACE Mourns the Loss of Chairman Charles Chambers, MD

    Charles Chambers, MD and Chairman of Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence, passed away on June 9. Dr. Chambers is survived by his wife, three children and three grandchildren. Dr. Chambers contributed immensely to ACE since its inception, and his dedicated leadership will be sorely missed.

    In addition to his role as Chairman of ACE, Dr. Chambers was a tenured professor of Medicine and Radiology at Pennsylvania State University School of Medicine, and served as director of the cardiac catheterization laboratories at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, for over 20 years. He also served as the President of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions, 2014-2015.

    Throughout his career, Dr. Chambers demonstrated his commitment to the pursuit of quality in cardiovascular care, grounding his work always in the impact that his contributions had, and will continue to have, on patients, their families, and the greater scope of healthcare professionals across the cardiovascular continuum of care.

    Dr. Chambers' legacy is established in the missions of the organizations with whom he worked, and the lives he impacted through his association. No doubt, the indelible mark he leaves behind will be seen in the continued influence of his contributions on organizations, professionals, and individuals striving towards the ongoing pursuit of quality in a constantly evolving healthcare landscape.

    A fund is being established for scholarships and support for cardiology fellows in Dr. Chambers’ name. Donations will be accepted by ACE and put into a restricted fund for transfer once the fund details have been established.
