CardioSource CV Summit Presents Compelling Reasons for ACE Cath Lab Accreditation

Christopher J. White, MD, FSCAI, FACC, FAHA, FESC, Director, Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE), and Marc Shelton, MD, FACC, discussed the compelling reasons for ACE cardiac cath lab accreditation during the presentation Improving Care through Catheterization Lab Accreditation. Emphasizing that ACE Accreditation takes cath lab performance from good to great in achieving quality patient care, the presentations stressed the importance of meeting appropriate use criteria (AUC) in documentation.

ACE delivers unique programs that reduce complexity, engage physicians and assist facilities by improving the quality outcomes process. The value of this partnership is delivered through integrating best practices in patient care and, ultimately, minimizing lost revenue in the cardiac cath lab. “ACE is your coach and partner in crossing the quality chasm to a more effective program,” notes Dr. White. “The necessity of organizing documentation to meet intensifying public reporting and benchmarking mandates is essential.”

The audience was enthusiastic in their participation during the Improving Care through Catheterization Lab Accreditation presentation, which indicates the trend in the cardiac cath lab community to apply the outside consultative perspective of ACE. The real-time practice review and actionable follow-up recommendations focus on the key quality indicators that physicians think are important. “This is a call to action,” said Mary Heisler, RN, BA, Executive Director, Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence. “Accountable metrics that affect all hospital stakeholders are here. It’s time to get started on your quality journey in the cardiac cath lab with ACE Accreditation.”
