    ACE Advisor: What’s New?

Take note! It's been a busy season at ACE. Growing awareness of accreditation and external review services ACE provides to the cardiac cath lab (CCL) has been building exciting momentum throughout the summer months. Highlights below:

    • Physicians have opinions on ACE accreditation and external review, and shared their ACE experiences at the 2013 SCAI meeting. View videos here.
    • View the latest list of ACE-accredited cath lab facilities.
    • Cath Lab Digest has published a new article on Lawrence General Hospital and how they sought ACE accreditation to prove their competitive capabilities in Massachusetts, demonstrating that lower cost of local care does not jeopardize quality outcomes.

ACE has updated published standards for cardiac intervention procedures and these are now available for download on the ACE website. ACE updated its Cath/PCI standards to align with the recently published clinical competency document for PCI which includes information on physician training, clinical competency criteria and the updated expert consensus document published in 2012. Driven by the latest available science, this is the first major change to cardiovascular intervention standards to be produced. Read more about the new standards in the ACE Advisor.

A video series featuring physician opinions on ACE accreditation and external review, taped during the 2013 Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) Scientific Sessions in Orlando, FL have been regularly released since mid-August. We’re thrilled to announce the latest facilities that have merited accreditation with ACE:

    • King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is the first international facility to be accredited by ACE. KFSHRC decided to seek accreditation with ACE because we are the only accreditation system that provides cardiac cath lab certification and we could validate their processes based on global best practice.
    • St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, NY is distinguished amongst its peers by being the first hospital in New York to accomplish ACE Cath/PCI accreditation.
    • Franciscan St. Francis, Indianapolis, IN highlights its quality program of excellence by achieving Carotid Artery Stenting accreditation.
    • Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, MA is the first hospital in New England to achieve ACE accreditation.

Validating that patients can get quality care right in their own community, Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, MA, completed the ACE accreditation process to show that the lower cost of local care does not jeopardize quality outcomes. Adjacent to nationally-recognized hospitals and research centers in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts, Lawrence General Hospital maintains a leadership role in best practice implementation. You can read all about it in the October issue of Cath Lab Digest.
